Join us as we explore a typical day in the life of one of our coaches as a Quantitative #Equity #Trader.

🕖 07:00 AM – 09:30 AM

I start my day by waking up at 6:00 am Eastern Time, ensuring I'm ready to dive into work by 7:00 am. My initial focus is on monitoring live orders from Europe and assessing their progress during the mid-trading session. Following that, I review overnight fills from APAC, making any necessary adjustments to my trading strategy. Once everything is under control, I shift my attention to the pre-North America open phase.

🗞️ 09:30 AM – 12:00 PM

As the North American market opens at 9:30 am, my primary responsibility as a trader is to execute orders while minimizing market impact. I employ various systems and tactics, such as algorithmic and block trading, to ensure efficient trades. Additionally, I analyze market activity and share valuable trade opportunities with Portfolio Managers, enriching the decision-making process.

⏱️ 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM

In my world as a Quantitative Equity Trader, there's no traditional lunch break. I understand the need to stay connected to the trading desk at all times, as a split-second reaction can have significant P&L implications. I enjoy my lunch while monitoring the market and ensuring a backup trader covers any time I'm away from the desk. It's a demanding job that requires constant focus.

📚 4:00 PM

After the market closes at 16:00, I wrap up the day by booking my trades and catching up on any pending emails. This time also provides me with an opportunity to work on side projects without interruptions. Whether it's backtesting new strategies or running simulations, I dedicate myself to enhancing my understanding of the market dynamics.
